About the KPMG Nature Positive Challenge

In its third year, KPMG's Nature Positive challenge enables startups from around Australia, Papua New Guinea and Fiji the chance to win a prize pool of up to $250,000 in bespoke advisory services. First place will also take out a $100,000 cash injection first place prize, and the people's choice winner walks away with $20,000.

Alongside the winnings, the Nature Positive Challenge helps startups get in front of the right people and community partners, culminating in a showcase to relevant industry players.
Open to the most innovative startups and impact ventures working on ideas, solutions and technology, our 2024 competition focused on two key themes:

Regenerative economy - Startups with solutions that support nature regeneration and practices that rebuild natural capital and ecosystems. This includes ventures scaling regenerative economies such as biodiversity carbon credit infrastructure and restoration projects;

Sustainable food systems - Startups helping to track or prevent generation of food waste, enhancing nature and biodiversity while maximising productive landscapes. This includes ventures promoting sustainable agriculture and responsible consumption and production, in harmony with nature.

Meet the winners

LEVUR
2025 winner

LEVUR

Levur creates sustainable oils to replace environmentally harmful palm oil.
Levur is reimagining how industries produce oils, offering a sustainable, scalable alternative to palm oil, a resource found in over 50% of supermarket products and responsible for deforestation, biodiversity loss, and significant emissions.

Using synthetic biology and precision fermentation, they brew palm oil derivatives - similar to brewing beer - to produce oils identified by customers in a controlled environment. This innovative process also allows them to create tailored oil profiles, delivering enhanced functionality for industries like cosmetics, nutraceuticals, and food.
Xylo Systems
2024 winner

Xylo Systems

On winning the challenge, Camille said: "Winning the KPMG Nature Positive Challenge was a game-changer for us. Partnering with KPMG’s nature and biodiversity experts sharpened our alignment with global nature frameworks, further enhancing our value to international customers."
